Basic techniques for Platinum manufacture
teacher: Paolo Bernardoni
In this course students will learn the basic techniques of this fascinating but difficult metal.
The course of 18 hours includes an introductive theoretical lecture, to analyze and discuss the differences between platinum and other metals used in jewelry
The practical part will start with the fusion of metal and the preparation for further processing, followed by exercises in soldering and brazing.
Then the students will begin with the construction of a ring with five stones of 3.75mm (students can bring their own stones).
The course will conclude with the buffing and finishing of the constructed object.
Given the high cost of platinum it can be arranged with the school that the supplying company will recover the advanced metal to decrease costs.
