Alchimia at Autor 2014

Autor bijuterie, contemporana

Autor (click for link) is a platform that has been promoting jewelry design in Romania, for the last 6 years. At it’s 11 edition, the bi-annual fair is growing together with the designers and the design community it is supporting. Starting with the 10 edition, Autor became international. Together with the fair, the organizer put together a series of prizes in the form of workshops, booths at other fairs, magazine interviews, making this even all together more interesting. The fair is set in a popular venue in the center of Bucharest. Autor is the most exciting, contemporary jewelry event happening in Romania at this moment and for sure a “to watch” event for the rest of Europe.
This year, for the first time, Alchimia will have a booth at Autor, curated and installed by Izabella Petrut.

The exhibition consists of a selection of the Alchimia Collection (Rallou Katsari, Flora Vági, Monica Cecchi, Francesca Urciuoli, Marina Elenskaya, Lena Grabher, Naoka Nakamura, Nadege Roscoe- Rumjahn, Yu Chun Chen, Anna Drexel) and the recently born Alchimia Alumni Collective (ReNacimiento: Dinah Lee, Catalina Gibert, Andrea Coderch, Michelle Kraemer, Katie Gruber, Izabella Petrut).
The installation is called “Painting for the body, jewelry for the wall” and it puts emphasis on the fact that jewelry’s purpose is not only to be worn, and art is not only to be hung on the wall. The exhibition will display a selection of jewelry pieces that don’t want to be polite, comfortable or made out of precious material, but want to communicate a concept, an emotion, a sentiment, to raise a question or give an answer.
We hope we will ge photos soon
